Villa Madeira 208

We stayed in the unit unexpectedly because the unit we had reserved in Indian Shores sustained water damage and we couldn’t stay there. RR was proactive about offering us another condo, although in a different location. The unit was cheaper by about $1000 although Air BnB refuses to refund most of the cash that I spent, instead issuing a gift card credit which I have a huge issue with. The unit itself was comfortable, older, but a bit dusty in corners and behind furniture. The master bedroom AC was quite inefficient and stayed warm. There was a space fan in the room, but turning it on made everyone cough on account of the dust. One of the smaller bedrooms stayed ice cold. The kitchen and master bath was nicely remodeled, but oddly there was no bathroom door for the master bath. Fridge had ice and filtered water which was great. Hot water ran out quickly for a family of 4. The furniture was newer than in the pics, adequate, but no full size couch just a love seat. Very nice balcony furniture and some beach gear in ok/ fair to worn condition. The building itself was ok, pretty standard older beach condo building. You need your key for all beach and building access. Pool was rather dumpy and small and cloudy but we stuck to the beach which was very pretty even with the concrete beach erosion strips but not as pretty as Indian Shores/ Indian Rocks. The Candy Kitchen across the street had very good homemade ice cream and slow service, but yummy. Caddy’s was an unfortunate neighbor unless you enjoy drunk lawn men taking off their shorts on the beach to swim in their boxers. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but as a local I would probably not choose Madeira again, just a preference but I prefer the beaches a bit north due to overall crowd and quaintness of the neighborhoods. John’s Pass is nearby but again in my opinion is over rated and touristy, mostly low quality restaurants and overpriced souvenirs / surf shops. We drove a few miles north and ate at Conch Republic which had great grouper tacos and sandwiches, coconut shrimp, and key lime pie. If this unit was offered again, I would accept it over nothing but wouldn’t seek it out unless the price was very affordable. Resort Rentals overall was great and responsive to deal with. I would rent from them directly next time and leave Air BnB out of it, especially since they decided to steal $783 of my money and keep it even though it was no fault of mine that the first unit I rented flooded. If I could give Air BnB 0 stars that would be too many.

We stayed for a month and loved it! Nicely updated kitchen and living room. Great location on the beach and gorgeous views! We would definitely return!

clean, huge condo, right on the beach and close to restaurants. Assigned parking. Great for long term-- I stayed 2 months.

The location could not be better- right on the beach and walking distance to several places to eat and John's Pass.
We have already reserved for next winter.
I did not give the furniture a 5 because we thought it was very uncomfortable. It is leather and had no support-- we had to put pillows on top of the cushions to sit comfortably. Other than that we have no complaints.
