Dog Parks

Did you adopt a dog over the last year? Many people took advantage of working from home and opened their homes and their hearts to a record number of four legged friends. Now that you’re ready to go on vacation, you may be looking to take your pup with you. St. Pete Beach has a number of dog friendly parks, beaches, and restaurants to keep your dog’s active during your trip.

A dog and its owner walk into a bar. That’s not the start of a joke, it’s the concept behind The Dog Bar, a “members only” off leash dog park and bar.  The Dog Bar provides 4500 of  astro turf, fenced in, off leash adventure for your dog and a full bar for you. There are four separate areas for dogs, including one for smaller dogs, a quiet area, and a bone shaped pool. The Dog bar is open to humans over the age of 21 and spayed/neutered fully vaccinated dogs over the age of one. A membership is required for your dog, and you can purchase a daily pass for $5.00 per dog or a 10 session punch card for $30.00.

The quarter mile “dog beach” at Fort De Soto State Park gives your four legged friend more than 1300 acres of fun. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the park on a leash, and amenities include “dog showers”, The Paw Playground, and an off leash beach designated specifically for dogs as well as two fenced in play areas.   Dogs are not allowed in buildings, beaches other than “dog beach” or on the fishing pier, but have full access, when leashed, to the trails and fort. There’s a smaller dog beach at Pass A Grille Beach.

McKenney Park has a small, fenced in areas for dogs to play. Located in a residential neighborhood, the park has a water station, clean up baggies, and a couple of benches for you to relax while your big and small dogs play together. Hurley park has both basketball and tennis courts in addition to the dog park. Vina Del mar park has a dog park and a playground so both your fur babies and human children can run around. St. Petersburg has a number of dog parks, including the popular Kenwood, Lake Vista,  and Walter Fuller Parks. In general, dogs need to be fully vaccinated and under voice control at all times. Puppies under four months are prohibited. Most dog parks are open from dawn until dusk and pet owners need to clean up after their pets!

St. Pete Beach has a number of pet friendly restaurants, including the Paradise Grille, Sea Dog Brewing Company, and the Island Grille and raw Bar.

Pets are an important part of your family and they deserve a little vacation too. Spending time in St. Pete Beach and taking advantage of all the pet friendly amenities the community and business provide is a great way to ensure your dogs are getting the love, attention, and exercise they need and deserve.
