Another unique date is a visit to a secretive speakeasy. Hailing from the Roaring 20’s when Prohibition banned alcohol in the U.S., speakeasies were a secret place to gather and imbibe. Thanks to the 21st Amendment, you no longer need fear the law to enjoy a cocktail, but the premise of these secret bars is alive and well more than a century later.

The menu is cocktail-centric and gets its inspiration from bygone eras, including Prohibition. Eclectic food dishes are also offered, and private booths can be reserved for a more intimate experience.
The Saint Speakeasy in St. Petersburg offers eclectic cocktails, wine and upscale snacks and desserts. It’s located behind a secret unmarked entrance in the Grand Central District of St. Petersburg. Like original speakeasies, you will need a code word to get in, and that’s where the fun begins. The Saint Speakeasy does not take reservations so arrive early or expect a wait on busy nights.
Another speakeasy recently opened in the Grand Central District and this one isn’t exactly what it seems. By day, Dirty Laundry it appears to be just a laundromat and coffee shop. But at night, you can find something else! An old payphone inside gives you a secret code which you type in and voila! A washing machine pops open, leading you to a secret Cuban-themed bar that serves up Cuban cocktails and tapas. How’s that for an uncommon adventure?!
